Four layers, and the failure of any one of them is what a warranty claim looks like three years later. This is the order they go down in, and who makes each one.
Imported casting line. We cast our own aliphatic polycaprolactone TPU sheet rather than buying blown film, which is what keeps the optics flat and the thickness even.
A sister company in the same group formulates and produces the solvent acrylic adhesive. Adhesive is where a film quietly fails, so we do not buy it from a catalogue.
Two fully imported precision lines with micro-gravure, slot die and comma heads. The coating head sits in a Class 1,000 zone inside a Class 10,000 hall.
Cure, laminate the liner, then rest the roll. Resting matters: adhesive that is slit the same day it is coated behaves differently three months later.
Slit to the width the order asks for, on the same site. Every roll carries a code that traces back to the coating run and the metre.
110 instruments, from raw-material analysis to full inspection of finished rolls. Lab test, small batch, pilot run, then production.
The top coat decides how the film behaves when it is dirty. The TPU decides how it behaves when it is hit. The adhesive decides whether it stays put — and it is the layer buyers ask about last and complain about first.
| Layer | What it does | Where ours comes from |
|---|---|---|
| Top coat | Scratch resistance, self-healing, water behaviour, stain resistance. Hydrophilic or hydrophobic, applied on our line. | Coated in-house |
| TPU base | The body of the film. Aliphatic polycaprolactone, chosen for UV stability rather than for price. | Cast in-house on an imported casting line |
| Adhesive | Solvent acrylic. Controls initial tack, final bond and whether the film can come off a panel without taking paint with it. | A sister company in the same group |
| Liner | Carries the adhesive until installation day and carries the roll code that a claim is registered against. | Bought in |
We buy one of the four layers. Most brands in this category buy two or three, and the one they almost always buy is the adhesive — which is also the one that fails quietly.
Standing on a drafting committee is a different kind of credential from passing an audit. These are the standards the manufacturer sat on.
Thickness, haze, gloss, adhesion and elongation, issued against the roll code.
